What requirements do I and my project need to meet to apply?
We encourage writers from all backgrounds and experiences to apply: from beginner writer to seasoned professional. You must be 18 years or older and legally capable of entering into the agreements required by the program. You must also be a citizen or permanent resident of Germany, Austria, or Switzerland. Lastly, you must have strong English and German language proficiency to work with English-speaking mentors and write a script in both English and German.
The project you submit must meet the following requirements:
- the project aims to be a German-language television series or feature film
- the project is entirely owned by you without encumbrances and there are no attachments to the project, including yourself in any non-writing capacity (e.g. as a director, star, etc.)
- the project has not been previously owned or optioned by another party
Why must you be bilingual to apply to the program?
This first accelerator program will be conducted in English so that writers can work with English-speaking Hollywood writers and the Impact team without the logistics of hiring outside translators while in a virtual setting. However, we are excited about the potential of building an in-person local-language development program in the future so stay tuned!
Will I be paid? How much?
Yes, the writers of the selected projects will be paid in accordance with Netflix’s standard terms and conditions for such writer agreements.
If I'm selected and the movie or TV show gets made, will I get a credit at the end?
Yes, the writer will receive a screen credit in accordance with the industry standards and the writer’s contribution to the project.
If Netflix selects my project, will they own it?
Yes, any project that is selected by Netflix for development will be purchased and therefore owned by Netflix.
How do I know you won’t steal my idea?
