When do applications open and close?
Applications are now closed.
What's on the application?
For each prompt, the application consists of questions regarding you and your project, along with areas for you to upload:
- A 30-second video of you pitching yourself and your project
- A full-length screenplay or teleplay that showcases your writing ability
- A link to a previously produced work of yours (if applicable)
Additionally, prior to submitting your application, you must read and sign the Impact x Netflix Submission Release and Program Guidelines.
Uploading the video and sample written work and signing the Submission Release and Program Guidelines are required. You cannot submit an application without them.
Can I submit more than one application per prompt?
No, only one full application can be submitted per person/team per prompt. You can, however, submit to all four prompts.
Can I submit the same idea that I submitted for a previous Impact program or a previous prompt?
Yes.
Can there be producers or talent already attached to my project?
No.
Can my project be an adaptation of a novel/short story/graphic novel/etc. that I have optioned?
No.
Can my project be an adaptation of my own published work?
Yes, only if you have sole ownership to the material.
Can my project be based off of public domain story?
Yes.
Do I have to submit an idea that I’ve already written a draft of?
No, it is not required to already have written a draft of the project you are submitting.
Can my project be animated?
No, your projects must be live-action based. A film that needs CGI and/or other visual effects is also acceptable.
Will each prompt have the same application questions?
No. Though there are core questions asked on every Impact application, each application will be tailored to the specific prompt.
How long should my application answers be?
You should use as much space as you need to answer each question but we encourage you to be concise.
Do my application and all attached materials need to be in English?
Yes.
How will my application be evaluated?
Every application submitted is read blindly by a certified Impact reader and evaluated without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, veteran or disability status.
Applications are assessed on the creative and commercial merit of the idea submitted, the strength of the writing sample submitted, and Impact’s assessment of the writer’s capacity to work with a Shaper to deliver a solid project draft in less than 10 weeks.
