What is Impact Australia?
Impact Australia is the first internationally-held Impact program. The inaugural program launched in July 2020 in partnership with Screen Australia, Gentle Giant Media Group, VicScreen, and other Australian federal and state government agencies. Impact Australia was held virtually in 2020 and 2021, seeing a total of 23 of the best writers from across the nation complete Impact's rigorous accelerator to incredible success. Impact and its partners are excited to continue building on that success in 2022 with the launch of the third Impact Australia program, which will take place in Melbourne
What happens during Impact Australia?
During the accelerator, around 10 selected writers/writing teams (called Creators/Creative Teams) will each be paired with a best in class screenwriter or showrunner (called Shapers), who they'll meet with twice a week, as they develop their projects from idea to a fully-realized screenplay or TV series over the course of eight weeks.
Impact will provide a space in Melbourne for Creators to work out of. This co-working space will also be open for the Creators to work in outside of the program's formal meetings and events. In-person attendance in Melbourne for the duration of the program is encouraged but not mandatory.
In addition, we host weekly workshop sessions and panels featuring keynote speakers where Creators will hear stories and receive advice from renowned industry leaders.
The program culminates in Pitch Day, where the Creators pitch their project to a select group of international buyers, producers, showrunners, and representatives.
How does Impact Australia program differ from Impact LA?
The Impact program in Australia is almost exactly the same as the LA program, with the exception of location and eligibility - only Australian citizens and permanent residents of Australia may participate.
Will Impact Australia occur in 2023?
Hopefully!
